Disposable plastic spoons play a huge role in our planet’s worsening environmental degradation. Fortunately, you don’t need to use plastic spoons any longer. There’s a new eco-friendly alternative in town: the Bamboo Spoon.
Made of all-natural bamboo, this eco-friendly spoon is durable enough to be used for a long time. And when it’s time to throw it out, you won’t have to worry about harming the environment—this reusable spoon is biodegradable and compostable! Just toss it onto your pile of compost, and it’ll eventually go back to the Earth as organic matter.
But this natural spoon isn’t only compostable; it’s also sustainable in terms of its material. Bamboo is the world’s fastest-growing plant, which makes it a sustainable resource. But what makes this spoon a lot more sustainable is that it’s made from a bamboo offcut, giving a new purpose to waste.
With every scoop of your favorite smoothie bowl or other nourishing meals, you can enjoy the fact that you’re helping save the environment when you use this eco-friendly Bamboo Spoon.
How It’s Made
1. Reclaim bamboo offcuts
To make our bamboo utensils, we collect discarded offcuts of bamboo. Then, we send these offcuts to our team of artisans who’ll transform them into beautiful, food-safe utensils.
2. Cut the bamboo offcuts into the shape of utensils
The artisans draw the profiles of spoons, and forks on the offcuts. Then, they use a saw to cut the wood down to the drawn shapes of the utensils.
3. Smooth out the shapes and surfaces
Next, they carve the spoons’ bowls, the forks’ prongs, and the knives’ sharp edges as well as all of the utensils’ handles. After that, they smooth out and sand the edges and surfaces.
4. Clean and let them dry
Finally, the artisans clean the bamboo utensils with water and let them dry naturally—giving you sustainable utensils that are 100% handmade.
I ordered some bowls and straw in total, and they are all awesome! The straw might have smell remains for first few times I use it, but it’s better now. The bowls are pretty and bigger than I thought!
